Dave “DJ Redlocz” Okwesia

I have a BA Degree in Documentary and Media Production. I have been Radio presenting on West Hull FM since 2012 the

Full Flava Connection Show. Co ran Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance from 2000 -2009 booking international acts and local artists to perform. 2013 I held my own Full Flava Festival celebrating local Urban Music.

I am also a founder member of Beats Bus Records and a tutor in Song Writing, DJing, Music and Video Production workshops. I also provide content and help to run our social media platforms Facebook Instagram Twitter and YouTube. I have gained 30 years experience working in  youth arts and community work. I received a Just Creativity Award from the Arts Council 2013 for music workshops with Young Offenders in Grimsby for North East Lincolnshire Council and a Community Pioneers Award 2000 for Innovative Hip-hop workshops by HCC. In my youth I have travelled extensively up and down the country with my dance group performing gigs touring and entering competitions . I mentored the famous Grimsby actor Tommy Turgoose prior to him becoming a huge success. I choreographed dances with Hull’s Billy Elliot prior to touring with Elton John. Performed alongside No1 chart toppers DJ Pied Piper.

I am a recording artist specialising in Afro fusion and Hip-Hop. I DJ locally and help to mentor sign artists and release their music & videos promoting them through our Beats Bus Record Label services provision platform.

I hope for us to continue leading the field pioneering our groundbreaking work and solidifying our great relationships with the funders, partners and supporters alike.
